Notes about the 10th Wicket Record Partnership game and the 1921 Season
This was a truly remarkable game for Hampshire to win by an innings and 82 runs. Having been 118-9 by mid-afternoon on Day One, Bowell and wicketkeeper Livsey staged this staggering recovery to turn the game round completely. Every Hampshire wicket was claimed by Newman and Kennedy in the match, because there was one run-out in the Worcestershire second innings. Having finished 12th in 1920, Hampshire moved up to seventh in 1921, with 14 wins in 28 games. This was their second highest placed finish after 1914 (when they were 6th).

Notes about the 9th Wicket Record Partnership game and the 1962 Season
Replying to Surrey's 363-9 dec., Hampshire were in real trouble at 128-8 and Tony Lock on a hat-trick. Livingston, on strike, was dropped and the next wicket fell at 358. Both Danny Livingstone and Alan Castell easily recorded their Hampshire career best scores in this partnership. Danny's double hundred was 64 runs more than his next highest score for Hampshire. Alan was to make his only first-class fifty for the club in this game. Surrey's Ron Tindall took five wickets in the seconds innings. He, of course, later went on to play and manage Portsmouth in the old Second Division. Having been Champions for the first time in 1961,Hampshire slipped down to tenth in 1962, winning just seven matches. Gray (in his Benefit Year) and Marshall passed 2,000 runs each for the seaon.
